The images are from photographs published in newspapers. Canterbury Times photographed by the Onward Project.
The photographs were originally published at a size smaller than displayed here (approximately 4 cm high). In addition to the newspaper grain there are also imperfections due to newspaper printing processes and curvature from the newspapers being bound into volumes. Photographs were supplied to newspapers by family members. The date is the date of publication of the photograph.
