- Image Description The officers' Service Dress jacket was simplified in design and was tailored from hard wearing fabric. It is lined throughout and has an open collar with four buttons on the front. There are two patch pockets with box pleats and a three point flap on the chest, and on the skirt are two bellows pocket, each with a straight flap. The shoulder straps are fabric and the badges of rank are worn on the cuff. This example is named to Major E. Holdgate, 6/1873, who left for World War I as a Captain with the Canterbury Infantry Battalion as part of the main body. Above the left pocket are three World War I medal ribbons and the ribbons for the Volunteer Officers Decoration and Long and Efficient Service medal. The collar badges are for the 2nd (South Canterbury) Regiment. This jacket was tailored by J. Ballantyne. Description from New Zealand Army : Uniforms and clothing, 1910 - 1945.
